Smartphone apps allow farmers to monitor and manage animal production from relatively anywhere they want, resulting in improved production efficiencies and animal welfare. One of the biggest factors differentiating a good producer from a great producer is the ability to do the right thing at the right time. Apps are a great aid with this by allowing farmers to access information that improve decision making through the mere push of a button on their smartphones.

This week, Times Opinion is reporting on a huge trove of location data showing the precise location movements for millions of Americans. Once your location is shared with the companies, there’s no way to delete that information or get it back. Your best bet is to avoid sharing your location in the first place — at least until the government bestirs itself to begin regulating how that information is collected, used and sold.
